Head Light Polishing
The obvious remedy is to buy new headlights. However, many of today’s headlights are only available as complete, sealed units. So you can’t just change the faded front screen, but end up buying a complete, new unit for mostly 500 -700 or more per light.
Add a bit of labour at the workshop, and you easily look down the barrel of 1400 NZD for new headlights, even on a smaller car.
But before you spend that money, consider seeing a SealX applicator. They can polish all or most of the haziness out. And to make the shiny result more durable, they apply a UV protection with SealX Surface coating. There are DIY kits available from the usual auto shops. But those kits usually don’t offer any UV protection. Which means your lights will go hazy again in a rather short time.
Depending on the degradation of the lights, one would expect no more than 150 NZD for a head light polish at an authorized SealX applicator. And it won’t take more than 2 hours. In certain cases you can even wait for the work to be completed.
There is a “But”: Depending on how far gone the lights were when you had the SealX procedure done, it likely needs repeating in 2-3 years time.
So if you like to stay safe, have your car look sharp, clear your WOF/COF with no hazzle and save a lot of money in the meantime, then simply take your car or truck to a SealX applicator for a headlight polish.
